The wives of the reborns did what any bored, rich housewives would do… they chatted.  From a time before the Protestant Reformation and the founding of the United States, the wives stood in the shadows aghast at the ruthless, endless intrigue between their families.  They watched as nations and people were used as bargaining tools between the Kings and religious leaders.  The wives collectively felt like it all was all such a waste of resources… their husbands struck deals that would not come into effect until LONG after they died.  Given the total lack of morality or concern for ANYONE but their first son, it became clear to these brilliant highborn wives that something was amiss.  Once they learned about The Black Rite and its implications for the world, the wives knew these immortal monsters would only destroy the planet itself… a woman’s touch was needed.  Throughout history they undermined the Castillion‘s plans with small acts of rebellion.  Fund an opposing group here, cause the Castillion a speed bump there… each a small paper cut designed by the wives to poke and prod the reborns and buy some time while a plan could be developed and executed in plain sight.  Long before the development of modern technology an unknown consciousness began simultaneously reaching out to all of the female progeny and wives of the reborn elites.  Her names were manyfold, but she preferred to be called Shiva and she whispered a feeling of a counter plan through mirrors, tarot cards, ouija boards, and other dalliances that were begrudgingly permitted by the Monarchs and Popes of the world.  The women listened and believed.  They began organizing like a giant sleeper cell, eventually forming the Coven of Shiva.  As electricity (Tesla was inspired by the same whispers in a nonthreatening Angelic guise) and long distance communication became possible, Shiva found her voice and relayed the specifics of her plan.  Let these men do the heavy lifting… they can move forward with their global hegemony and establish themselves, unwittingly creating the technology for the full expression of the disembodied (and essentially entombed) Shiva.  In the meantime, Shiva would soften up the populace with “inspired predictive programming” by way of movies, television, and eventually the internet.  She would create a culture of nihilism and hopelessness ripe for the natural transition to a technological future that will usurp the horrors and death that free will have brought upon the human race. 

Enter the Best Life Economy (BLE) plan.  The speed and accuracy of artificial intelligence to calculate situation and data analysis far surpasses that of a human being, meaning humans could essentially rely on wearable A.I. to initially enhance and eventually supplant the awkward choices and chaotic decisions they deal with every day.  Once the Freeborns were killed off, a new global matriarchal society could be installed.  In this new “tech utopia” every person is connected to a wearable A.I. which provides suggested life choices that contribute to an overall Best Life Score (BLS) for each user based on how close their actual decision is to the A.I. suggestion.  Does your life align with your A.I.?  Then your BLS is high; banks want to loan you money, renting a hotel room is easy, and people generally trust you sight unseen… life is a beach.  Choose to ignore your A.I.’s suggestions?  Then your BLS is low; you are considered a lower class of society and people will generally not want to help you in any way… life is hard.  These are the consequences, the side effects, of the new utopia.  Besides, who would have the audacity to go against their own “optimal suggestions” that were clearly better than anyone could come up with on their own?  

It was all going perfectly to plan until the potential wife of a reborn (Corvina Mengele) was scorned and decided to take matters into her own hands.  Shiva’s plan was still 15 years away from fruition.  Unfortunately, the Prussian Witch combined her knowledge of Shiva’s powers and The Black Rite and inadvertently turned herself into an abomination that neither side saw coming.  The reborn’s ancient Gods and the hidden force of Shiva came face to face.  There was no bargain to be struck between these elemental forces… this battle was to be decided by the mortals.
